What is ext. 1708?
Good art—art that resonates—extends beyond the immediate moment of experiencing it. It creates as many questions as it answers and thrives on its open-endedness. It is the responsibility of art spaces to not only provide the initial space for viewing but to also provide a platform for the extension and expansion of an artist or artists’ ideas, perceptions, and posits. Through the written word, 1708 Gallery’s ext.1708 continues dialogues started by its exhibiting artists. Critics, curators, art history students, screenwriters, novelists, and other artists add their voice, expanding an artist’s vision beyond the walls of the gallery and the run of the exhibition.
ext. 1708 is funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
